Elite iQ Laser Hair Removal: What to Expect in Mississauga & Oakville

Shaving, waxing and tweezing take up a surprising amount of time, and they often come with irritation, ingrown hairs and razor bumps. Laser hair removal offers a longer-term way to reduce unwanted hair. At our Mississauga (Erin Mills) clinic, a short drive from Oakville, we use the Elite iQ laser by Cynosure. The same platform also treats pigmentation, redness and visible vessels. Here's how it works, how to prepare and what aftercare looks like. We've also written a detailed guide to laser hair removal in Mississauga.

Laser care isn't one setting for everyone. It's tailored to your skin, your hair and your goals at every visit.

How This Guide Differs From Our Other Laser Articles

Our earlier articles cover laser hair removal in general, for men and for athletes. This one focuses on the Elite iQ device itself: how its melanin reader and dual wavelengths tailor each session, how to prepare, and the other skin concerns the same platform treats.

About the Elite iQ Laser

Elite iQ is a dual-wavelength laser that combines Alexandrite (755 nm) and Nd:YAG (1064 nm) wavelengths. Having both lets the provider choose settings to suit your skin and hair. Before treatment, a Skintel melanin reader measures the melanin in your skin so energy settings can be tailored to you. Every treatment begins with an assessment so we can confirm the treatment is appropriate for your skin and hair type.

How Laser Hair Removal Works

The laser delivers energy into the hair follicle, targeting the pigment in the hair to reduce future growth. Hair grows in cycles, and only actively growing hairs respond at any one time, so a series of sessions is needed. Your provider will recommend a schedule based on the area and your hair. Fine and coarse hair respond differently, and we'll set realistic expectations at your consultation.

Before Your Treatment

  • Skip waxing and tweezing for at least six weeks beforehand. Shaving is fine.
  • Avoid sun exposure on the area for two weeks before your appointment.
  • Pause harsh products such as strong cleansers, acne treatments or retinol on the area for at least a week.
  • On the day: wear loose clothing and arrive with the area clean, with no makeup, lotion or deodorant.

After Your Treatment

  • Be gentle with your skin and avoid rubbing or scrubbing.
  • Avoid exfoliating or abrasive products for at least five days.
  • Keep the area out of the sun for two weeks to help prevent pigmentation changes.
  • If you have any irritation, apply the soothing lotion provided.

More Than Hair Removal

The Elite iQ platform also treats a range of skin concerns:

Our Approach: Holistic, Tailored and Naturally Advanced

At SKINFIDELITY, our philosophy is simple: Holistic Approach, Results that Enhance. Every treatment starts with an assessment and a plan, not a product. There's no one-size-fits-all here. We take a conservative approach, recommending only what will genuinely help, and the goal is always a natural result that looks like you.

Even for skin treatments, we look at the whole picture: your skin type, your routine, your other treatments and how everything works together. That way each visit is tailored and fits into a plan that makes sense for you.

Who Is (and Isn't) a Good Candidate

We're selective about who we treat, and we decide carefully what's appropriate for each person. A treatment being popular doesn't make it right for you.

Often a good fit

  • Unwanted hair you'd like to reduce long-term
  • Pigment, redness or vessels suitable for laser after assessment

May not be the right fit

  • Recent sun exposure or tanning
  • Very light, grey or white hair, which lasers don't target well
  • Certain medications or skin conditions that increase sensitivity

Honestly, a consultation may end with a recommendation for a different treatment, or for no treatment at all. If we don't think something will help you, we'll say so.

Questions to Ask Before Any Treatment

Wherever you choose to go, it's worth asking a few questions first. Who will perform my treatment, and what are their qualifications? Is there medical oversight? What results are realistic for me, and what are the possible side effects? What aftercare will I need, and who do I contact if I have concerns afterwards? A good clinic will welcome these questions and answer them clearly, without rushing you into a decision. If something feels like a hard sell, it's fine to take your time.

Why Choose SKINFIDELITY

SKINFIDELITY is led by Master Nurse Injector Shelby Hall, who has worked exclusively in medical aesthetics since 2015 and founded the clinic in 2018. Every treatment plan has Medical Director oversight. Our approach is calm and honest: we listen first, assess your skin and goals, and recommend only what we believe will help. There's never any pressure to book more than you need.

Preparing for Your First Visit

To get the most from your consultation, bring a list of your current medications and supplements, any allergies, and details of treatments you've had before (including where, when and what was used, if you know). It also helps to share your skincare routine and a few words about what's bothering you most. Photos of how you looked a few years ago can help too. Most importantly, come with your questions. Your appointment is a two-way conversation, and the plan we build together should make sense to you before anything begins.
