Liposuction and BBL procedures can leave some people with small lumps, ridges or pockets of fat that weren't fully addressed, even after the swelling has settled. If that's you, you're not alone, and there is no judgment here. Corrective work is a big part of what we do at SKINFIDELITY. In carefully selected cases, fat-dissolving injections may help smooth small residual fat irregularities. Here's an honest look at what they can and can't do, for clients in Mississauga, Oakville and Kleinburg/Vaughan.
Correction isn't about doing more of the same. It's about recognizing what's fat, what's scar tissue and what's skin, and choosing the right tool, or the right referral.
How Fat-Dissolving Injections Work
The injectable contains deoxycholic acid, a substance similar to one your body uses to break down dietary fat. Injected into a small pocket of fat, it disrupts fat cell membranes, and the body clears the treated cells over the following weeks.
An important note: in Canada, this product is approved for fat under the chin. Using it in other areas, including areas treated by liposuction, is off-label. A 2019 systematic review in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology found off-label body use appeared similar in safety to approved use, but noted the evidence comes mostly from small studies and larger research is needed. That's why every case needs a careful assessment first.
What It May Help, and What It Can't
May help
- Small, soft, residual pockets of fat after the body has fully healed
- Minor asymmetry between sides from leftover fat
Not the right tool for
- Dents, depressions or over-resection, where too much fat was removed
- Firm scar tissue, fibrosis or skin adhesions
- Loose or excess skin
- Large or complex contour deformities
Some contour issues need a surgeon. If your concern falls into these categories, we'll tell you honestly and recommend you see a plastic surgeon, ideally the one who performed your procedure.
Timing Matters
Swelling after liposuction can take months to fully resolve, and what looks like a lump early on may settle by itself. We generally want you to be fully healed and cleared by your surgeon before we assess you. We'll look at the area at rest and in different positions, and discuss your goals before suggesting anything.
What to Expect
Treatment follows the same process as our standard fat-dissolving treatment: topical numbing, small injections and swelling that peaks in the first few days. Corrective areas are often small, and more than one session may be needed, spaced weeks apart. You can also read our earlier article on fat-dissolving injections after liposuction and our blog on smoothing lumps after a BBL.
Our Approach: Holistic, Tailored and Naturally Advanced
At SKINFIDELITY, our philosophy is simple: Holistic Approach, Results that Enhance. Every treatment starts with an assessment and a plan, not a product. There's no one-size-fits-all here. We take a conservative approach, recommending only what will genuinely help, and the goal is always a natural result that looks like you.
Shelby assesses the face holistically. Rather than treating isolated spots, she looks at overall balance and proportion and how each area relates to the others: how the cheeks support the under-eyes, how the jawline frames the lower face, how the lips sit with the chin and nose. A concern in one area is often best addressed somewhere else, and sometimes the most natural result comes from doing less.
A large part of our work is corrective. We regularly see clients with over-filled, migrated or unbalanced results from treatments done elsewhere, and helping them get back to a natural look has shaped how carefully we treat everyone. We build gradually, respect your anatomy and would always rather add a little more at a follow-up than take too much away from what makes your face yours.
Who Is (and Isn't) a Good Candidate
We're selective about who we treat, and we decide carefully what's appropriate for each person. A treatment being popular doesn't make it right for you.
Often a good fit
- Fully healed after liposuction or BBL and cleared by your surgeon
- Small, soft residual pockets of fat
- Realistic expectations about modest, gradual change
May not be the right fit
- Dents, over-resection or depressions
- Firm scar tissue, fibrosis or adhesions
- Loose or excess skin, or large contour deformities that need a surgeon
- Pregnant, breastfeeding, or with bleeding disorders
Honestly, a consultation may end with a recommendation for a different treatment, or for no treatment at all. If we don't think something will help you, we'll say so.
Questions to Ask Before Any Treatment
Wherever you choose to go, it's worth asking a few questions first. Who will perform my treatment, and what are their qualifications? Is there medical oversight? What results are realistic for me, and what are the possible side effects? What aftercare will I need, and who do I contact if I have concerns afterwards? A good clinic will welcome these questions and answer them clearly, without rushing you into a decision. If something feels like a hard sell, it's fine to take your time.
Why Choose SKINFIDELITY
SKINFIDELITY is led by Master Nurse Injector Shelby Hall, who has worked exclusively in medical aesthetics since 2015 and founded the clinic in 2018. Every treatment plan has Medical Director oversight. Our approach is calm and honest: we listen first, assess your skin and goals, and recommend only what we believe will help. There's never any pressure to book more than you need.

Preparing for Your First Visit
To get the most from your consultation, bring a list of your current medications and supplements, any allergies, and details of treatments you've had before (including where, when and what was used, if you know). It also helps to share your skincare routine and a few words about what's bothering you most. Photos of how you looked a few years ago can help too. Most importantly, come with your questions. Your appointment is a two-way conversation, and the plan we build together should make sense to you before anything begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can fat-dissolving injections fix any lump after lipo?
No. They may help small residual fat pockets, but not dents, scar tissue, loose skin or large deformities. Some issues need a surgeon.
Is this an approved use?
In Canada, the product is approved for fat under the chin. Other areas, including post-liposuction areas, are off-label, which we'll discuss openly at your assessment.
How soon after liposuction can I be assessed?
Once you've fully healed and swelling has settled, and your surgeon has cleared you. Early lumps often resolve on their own.
How many sessions will I need?
It depends on the size of the area. Some small areas respond to one or two sessions, and we'll set honest expectations.
What are the side effects?
Swelling, tenderness, bruising and numbness in the area are common and temporary. We'll review all risks with you first.
